GEC starts a new project – “Organizational development of the Regional Environmental Centre for Central Asia (CAREC)”

The Regional Environmental Centre for Central Asia (CAREC) was established in 2001 by a joint decision of all five Central Asian states (Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan), the European Union and UNDP to assist the Central Asian governments, as well as regional and international stakeholders in addressing environmental and sustainability challenges across Central Asia.

The goal of the project is to develop a roadmap towards an “invigorated regional institution” and strategy for an institutional change, support CAREC’s organizational capacity development and financial stability. Within the framework of the project, on October 20th, GEC team conducted a kick-off meeting with Executive Director of CAREC and members of the management team. At the meeting, the presentation of the project was held and an action plan was agreed.

Project is implemented with the support from the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation.
